WHAT

BEND IT LIKE BOOKER -- A 25-hour community event, hosted by the 34th District Democrats, and inspired by US Senator Cory Booker's recent marathon speech which he presented to the American people on the US Senate floor from March 31st, 2025 to April 1st 2025.
BEND IT LIKE BOOKER will be a live event for those who wish to attend in-person. It will also be live-streamed for those who wish to watch the event in real time from anywhere in the world, and additionally it will be recorded for posterity and available on the 34th Dems' website to be viewed in perpetuity.

WHEN

Saturday, August 23, beginning at 10:00am and ending Sunday, August 24 at 11:15am.

Seattle, WA; (South Park/West Seattle) at the Seattle Machinists Hall -- 9125 15th Place South; Seattle, WA 98108 (Virtual viewing option also available).

WHY

Following the theme of Senator Booker's inspiring 2025 marathon speech, the vision of BEND IT LIKE BOOKER is to uplift the stories of Americans who are being harmed by the Trump Administration’s reckless actions, to educate our community about Trump's specific attempts to undermine our institutions and his disregard for the rule of law. Furthermore, the event seeks to inspire attendees and viewers to get involved civically, join the fight to protect our democratic process, and find joy and empowerment that flourishes when we stand together in community and take care of each other.

WHO

Members of the community (elected officials, community leaders, professionals, field experts, artists, 34th District Democratic members, community members, friends and supporters of the 34th District Democrats) will participate, sharing speeches, presentations, and performances. Also ~100 stories from Seattleites, Washingtonians, and others will be shared during the course of this event.
