West Seattle Indivisible 2026 Strategy

DRAFT Proposal for WSI Members

December 14, 2025

Vision

We envision a thriving democracy where communities rise together in non-violent, cooperative action to protect justice, strengthen civic engagement, and build a connected society rooted in trust, equality, and shared responsibility.

Mission

West Seattle Indivisible organizes neighbors to defend democracy, elect leaders who reflect our values, and provide tools for meaningful civic participation. Together, we stand against authoritarianism, support those most impacted, and grow a joyful, powerful community that makes our voices heard and holds government accountable to We the People.

Values

  • Pro-Democracy – We champion democratic principles and work to ensure government reflects the will of the people.

  • Non-Violent Action – We commit to peaceful, constructive engagement as the foundation of lasting change.

  • Cooperation – We work together with each other and allies, recognizing that collective strength and meaningful action come from working together to achieve a common goal.

  • Community Building – We create a resilient community that empowers neighbors to act, by fostering connection, solidarity, and joy.

2026 Strategic Priorities

In 2026, we will focus our energy and limited resources on a small number of strategic priorities while continuing our ongoing work on key issues.  These four priorities will guide our decisions about which actions, campaigns, and partnerships to undertake and invest in.

Build a West Seattle Community that Activates Civic Engagement

Success Measures:  tbd

  • Create a welcoming, pragmatic, non-violent space for people who want to do something, even if they’re new to the movement.

  • Facilitate the building of authentic relationships through a variety of methods (regular in-person meetings, potlucks/social events, neighborhood gatherings, mutual aid actions, virtual events, reaching out to ally organizations, etc.)

  • Connect community building directly to action – from learning together to participating in protests, meetings, and engaging with legislative bodies and elected officials.

Support Voting & Fair Elections and Elect Officials who Reflect our Values
    Success Measures:  tbd

  1. Develop and implement actions that support important local and national races as well as voting and fair elections such as  voter registration, get out the vote (GOTV) activities, election observing, candidate forums, national and local election protection legislation in Olympia, resistance to anti-democracy initiatives, etc.

  2. Encourage WSI member participation in the 34th District Democrats (e.g., PCOs, committees, meetings).

  3. Support party leadership that reflects the interests of all who live here, including working-class communities, immigrants, and those most affected by policy decisions.

  4. Work with established pro-democracy organizations to bring the on-the-ground experience from WSI’s issue teams into advocacy activities and decision-making.

Protect and Support Local Immigrant Communities

Success Measures: tbd

  1. Work with immigrant-led groups to support families and individuals targeted by anti-immigrant policies and enforcement.

  2. Prepare for rapid response when ICE or National Guard deployments threaten our neighbors’ safety

  3. Press local and county officials to adopt policies that protect the rights and dignity of immigrants

  4. Coordinate efforts with other allied organizations

Champion the Passage of Washington Health Trust (SB5233)

           Success Measures:  tbd

  1. Educate our members and neighbors about universal healthcare and what’s at stake as healthcare costs and premiums rise.

  2. Build coalitions with unions, advocacy groups, and other Indivisible chapters to pressure our elected officials.

  3. Provide opportunities for WSI members to engage directly with the effort.
