Immigration Resources You Can Use & Actions You Can Take

Act NOW to be Ready for ICE

President Donald Trump and ICE have Seattle in their sights. While we haven’t seen a surge of agents in our area yet, already members of our community are being detained and/or arrested.

We are working to organize and protect our immigrant neighbors with our allies, and other Indivisible chapters.

Below are ways you can be involved:

National Day Laborer Organizing Network’s Adopt-A-Corner

Sign up for a Zoom meeting to learn more about NDLON’s Adopt-a-Corner program. On December 10,  from 6-7:30pm, our WSI Immigration Team will host volunteers from the West Seattle NDLON to share more information about this program supporting day laborers who are at risk of ICE targeting. The program coordinates efforts across several Home Depot locations in our area.

At the Zoom meeting, the volunteers will explain what the Adopt-a-Corner program is, how to join, and answer your questions about how our teams can work together.

Washington Neighborhood Defense

Washington Neighborhood Defense, WAND, informs businesses of their rights during ICE interactions.

WSI wants to help. We need volunteers to help print and post flyers, drop them off at local businesses, and share “Print at Home” materials within the community.

All volunteer info, materials and links are available here.

WAND has created a live map to track which businesses have already been canvassed. If you deliver flyers to a location, please add a pin to the map so we can avoid duplication:

Here’s a link to the map.

Thank you for helping keep our neighbors informed and supported.

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project promotes justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education.  Volunteers with a legal background and/or with bilingual capacity are especially needed.

More information on how you can get involved can be found here.

Washington Indivisible Network

Washington Indivisible Network (WIN), the statewide network of Indivisible groups, has joined Washington for All (W4A) to prepare a statewide rapid mobilization plan if the National Guard is deployed or ICE activity increases in Washington State.

Please sign up for mobilization alerts and spread the word.

Whistle Warriors ICE Warning System

LA, Chicago, Evanston, and other cities have used whistles to alert people that ICE has been seen in an area. It has been very effective and it is very easy.

Two signals are used. If you see ICE operating in your neighborhood, blow your whistle in short bursts. If you see ICE making a raid or detaining people, blow your whistle in long, constant bursts.

If you hear these long whistles, go in that direction. DON’T INTERFERE WITH ICE BUT DO RECORD THEIR ACTIONS. Call 911 to report the activity.

If you know Spanish, tell the people ICE is confronting that they have rights.

At WSI’s last meeting we distributed almost 100 whistles - and we will have more at the December 14th Members Meeting -  but you can easily find one locally. Check out the Whistle Warriors info page here.

WA Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN)

Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network’s Rapid Response volunteer network is about more than crisis, it’s about building collective power and resilience. Get involved and learn how to become part of a statewide network of volunteers.

WAISN has a great resource page with information to help immigrants as well as those of us who want to protect our immigrant neighbors. Access it here.

Southend Indivisible’s ICE Headquarters Protest

Join Southend Indivisible Friday December 5th for a morning rally 9 am - 10:30 am on the sidewalk outside of ICE HQ in Tukwila to demand Trump's Gestapo stop the kidnappings of our neighbors, separation of families, and terrorizing of our community.

A core tenet of Southend Indivisible is peaceful, non-violent resistance and we will abide by this at all rallies and protests we host or co-host.

Normally these rallies are every Friday morning, rain or shine, but with the Holiday Season upon us, the schedule has changed.

Please check here to confirm the dates and to rsvp.
